Had two friends ( a couple ) round for lunch to celebrate her getting her driving license, ( aged 40 ... I'm 46 and still haven't got one ), and we ate ... ( an awful lot of my favourite foods! :lol ) ... :
Green olives and prawns with wonderful local bubbly called "Clairette de Die" ( a french white wine like champagne but not "certified" ) as aperitif.
Slices of smoked trout on small mounds of mushed avocado, and dry cured italian ham with plenty of cucumber, and anchovies marinaded with garlic and herbs on slices of tomato, plus more prawns. mmm!
Small "medallions" of rumpsteak, well charred/caramelised on the outside and red on the inside, on a bed of crisp chewy green salad in a dressing made of egg yolk, white wine vinegar, olive oil, and herb salt ( there was a hefty red wine with that but one taste set my teeth, tongue and face on edge so ... :lol )
Cheeses; Roquefort, comté, camembert and little round goat cheeses, ( but I'm not eating dairy so didn't have any ), with crusty chewy fresh local bread, ( which I didn't have because I'm on a gf diet ), and more of the hefty red wine for those who liked it! :lol So I didn't actually eat any of that; I went and smoked a rollie outside instead!
Coconut and almond cake with pear and chocolate topping, ( sweetened with honey, because I haven't been eating sugar for the last 8 months ), and some more of the delicious "bubbly"! ( + coffee for those who wanted it, but I'd already had one this morning at a cafe so didn't ).
It was very nice, :lol
and lovely to see the two friends, ( I hadn't seen them in about two months ), who live in a "dwelling" made from two caravans, dozens of huge haybales, acres of tarpaulin, miles of planking, and an outdoor earth-toilet, with a dog, a cat, and a great many chickens, at the top of a mountain near here.
