Photographs from my recent trip to Tallinn, Estonia.

By the time we had got to the hotel we were both starting to feel quite hungry, so we left the hotel and popped onto the tram into Tallinn city centre. Near the tram stop, we found this Azeri restaurant where we had kurza (sort of like a rough, hard pastry with mutton inside) with a tiny wee bit of salad. It was OK, but it didn't half take a considerable period of time to arrive - 45 minutes I think it took! This dish cost €4:

I'm looking to buy a good-quality entry-level DSLR, Canon or Nikon - anyone got any recommendations?

D40 is cheap?

Having finished our meals, we then went for a bit of a look at the Old Town.

This is the Kiek in de Kök, a big Tallinn landmark. Translated, it means "Peep in the Kitchen" (it's from low German) and is a tower originally used as a defensive fortification for the city:

This was actually a complete accident... bumped the camera while snapping pictures of a school project last year... its snowing polystyrene I like looking at this for some reason...



This was for the same project... Its my local beach... I thought it would be an appropriate title image for my portfolio...

We were quite tired from all the travelling we had done, so we went back to the tram stop in the city centre to go back to the hotel. Before we did though, I shot the main HQ of Swedbank, which lies right in Tallinn's city centre:



And a glass of A. Le Coq Porter to finish off the day with at the hotel. Tasteless dark lager, not a Baltic porter and certainly not a porter. The brewers laughingly claim it to be a successor to the legendary and venerable Tsarist strong stouts in the Imperial stout tradition. Fizzy, mild, too sweet. Average at best.

Estonian beers seem best avoided if you like taste in your beer, though Saku Porter is an exception and is extremely highly thought-of in the beer world. 6.5%.
