It's really something odd for someone else to look forward to my presence. And when I say someone else I really mean something else. When I go into my backyard I am greeted by a flurry of activity as the pigeons fly down in the expectation of food. Just my very site triggers their arrival. I suppose this only happens when they are hungry, but it fills me with some measure of content that they don't avoid me like I'm some sort of freak.

When art is too arty it's bad
When fish is too fishy it's also bad
but
Can an orange be too orange-y?
Think about it.

I fired my 12 gauge coach gun today without hearing protection on outdoors, twice. It didn't hurt at all. :/ I suppose the proximity of the muzzle to one's head is the most important thingy (a .45 cal pistol that's about the same decibels rung my bell good).

Don't do it at home kiddies, but it's good to know that I won't deafen myself hunting (one may not have time to put the ear plugs in...).

I don't know, my brother has had a high pitched whine in his ear ever since some nitwit threw a firecracker at him 30 years ago.

The problem with schoolteaching is that there's not enough to threaten the children with. All teachers have these days is "If you don't do your homework, you will be kept in for ten minutes at lunchtime." That doesn't work. They need to be able to tell the children "If you don't do your homework, I will hunt you down and kill you like the dog that you are." Children respond to a firm hand.

Talking to myself and dealing with my past 12 years of Psychotic Depression that I've come out of, just a little over two months ago.

I already have that, well, it's more of a billion crickets in my head. That was from the pistol experience several years ago (which if I'm reading it right, is one decibel quieter than the coach gun, but, the weapon was a lot closer to my head due to the ergonomics of it).

I now see why all of the old codgers were fine in the military back in the day when ear plugs weren't heard of; as long as they were firing the long barreled service rifle, they probably weren't that bad off (gun crews in the past are often shown with their fingers in their ears, and it's well known that people serving in artillery were often hard of hearing when they got out. It makes sense that they covered their ears, as artillery would be many orders of magnitude louder than small arms).
