ossification is beginning to happen in my neck.

the adams apple comes in, at a time i previously thought was just a bit too late. neatly as if i am going through puberty, again. cartilage becomes bone, a lump in my neck protrudes, glands become firmer and my voice doesn't become any deeper.

the girlfriend doesn't want my entire neck becoming extra bone (presumably so she can tickle it or something similar) and i tell her that i am beyond the point where fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva is a valid concern...and my toes are not deformed.

but who am i to argue with the otolaryngonologist who removed part of my face 10 years earlier?

One thing that is so true to me but I think I've never verbalized really.
I value brains. I value heart. I need both to really connect with someone. If one had only brains and no heart, no relationship would be possible for me. If one had only heart, I couldn't have a real connection with them. But I could be friends with them and would cherish them as a friend. I need both. I can understand now how some people can think it's pretentious. But it's not. It's a need. It doesn't mean lack of respect generally.
