I don't think that the movie Frankenweenie was as good as everyone made it out to be.
I loved everything up until the end. Just when you think the movie will have some integrity and force the kid to be mature and deal with the death of his dog and learn to let him go, this BS happy ending comes out of nowhere. The dog lives! Everyone's happy! Don't cry, kids!

It reminded me of the happy ending tacked onto the theatrical cut of
Blade Runner. It's phony and reeks of cowardice.
Thank you. Glad I'm not the only one who sees this. I did like the visual references to classic horror iconography and the stop motion animation was good, but the characters I didn't find interesting and the ending ruined the movie for me. The dad even brought up the moral halfway through the movie, but then at the end just throws it completely out the window. The funny thing is that I don't even think it was Burton's original vision for it to end like that. I mean, he's killed off key characters in movies like Big Fish, Corpse Bride, and Sweeney Todd. The ending to Frankenweenie reeks of studio subterfuge. If I want a horror movie from 2012, I'd much rather watch Hotel Transylvania or ParaNorman. At least with those movies I don't feel like my intelligence is being insulted.
