That Amazon has several ads for men's tank tops called "wife beaters", despite Canada's laws against calling them that, as they are offensive to women, especially survivors of domestic violence.

The term "wife beater" came from the 1951 movie A Streetcar Named Desire, in which the character Stanley wears white tank tops while being abusive to his wife Stella.

Maybe they should advertise rolling pins on Amazon as "husband tamers", which is what I once heard someone call a rolling pin. But due to double standards most people would probably find that amusing.

That my hero Stephen Foster was shy and reserved.

Quote:
Yes, Stephen Foster was described as a shy and pensive child and young man who was a bit of a loner, preferring solitary activities like studying or being in nature to social interactions. This quiet tendency remained with him into his adult life, as noted in biographical accounts.

Today I learned that I do not want to use AI in the classroom. I am capable of creating my own lessons and making my own tests. I do not want anything to grade them but me. I find it an insult to think I should resort to such practices. In my opinion, AI is leading the world into a future where people will lose their creativity.

Dragonfly nymphs have very complex butts - tube butts - and they breath through their butts.

Quick backstory.

I have a Star Wars Galaxy Legends character named after a character in Extra Terrestrial Visitors (1982) named Trumpy. On Mystery Science Theater 3000, the movie was called Pod People (1991).
My character is named Trumpy Neko, and he is a Rodian. This is the generic image of a Rodian.
Image
Trumpy's nose was stretched out and color changed to look more like the alien Trumpy. It originally wanted to give him the last name of Potato because the MST3K bots have some funny with Trumpy liking potatoes.
* end of back story *
Trumpy Neko is now the mayor of the outpost Older Son created.
I could not remember what Neko meant, so I started looking up translations, because I remember I looked up looked up a word in different languages to find something that sounded okay. I don't remember what the word was or the language.
:-( That was not quick.

In Welsh, neko means "Nothing."
In Czech, neko means "Someone."

Do you know what the Irish word for potato is? prátaí
A potato farmer is feirmeoir prátaí.

Also, the movie I know as Pod People was originally called Extra Terrestrial Visitors. It was made in 1983.

If I want the family to be together, I have to be the one to step up to the plate because nobody else will. My mum was almost hesitant for me to come over this Saturday.

Solitary Man by Neil Dimond was released in 1966. I thought it was released in 1969.

I learned what a Carpenter Bee looks like.
I saw an insect on the sidewalk this morning when I on my walk. I had never seen such an insect before. I took a picture and sent to my two ex-coworker friends (not ex-friends). One immediately replied it looked like a Carpenter Bee.
I replied, "Why to bees, suddenly appear, every time you are near?" My other friend thought that was funny. I got lucky.

I did look what a Carpenter Bee looked like.

I also looked up Carpenter Bees on Wikipedia.

Dragonflies Are Not What You Think was very interesting. I have always thought Dragonflies were interesting, but I knew next to nothing about them. Dragonfly nymphs may give me nightmares.

Thank you. Occasionally I am recommend videos from the Real Science channel.

According to the Villains Wiki, Sylvester the Cat has died more times than any other Looney Tunes character.
Even Wile E. Coyote? 8O

Also Sylvester's name is inspired by the scientific name for the European wildcat (felis silvestris).
