What, you aren't an amateur detective in your spare time?

I tend to follow cases and put my "awesome" autistic deduction abilities to them.

That one was the Tyrell case.

Don't get all hot and bothered with my comment. It was said tongue in cheek.

ImAnAspie, you'll have to excuse me, but where it indicates your gender, female is listed. lol

I wonder what this phrase meant:
"Pag binatohan ka ng bato, batuhan mo ng tinapay."
Translation: "If someone throws you a rock, throw (him/her) back with a bread."
I'm pretty sure this isn't literal.

Yes Kazan-san. Raleigh and I swapped genders a long time ago and now we can't change them back.

Doesn't everyone on here know/remember this?

I do see the usefulness of the Spyderco Civilian for one of its intended purposes, which is self-defense against rape.

You'd just need to hold it up with blade outwards, close to your head/neck; as soon as someone attempts to grab you, you put the blade in the way of the attack and as soon as it's close enough to their arm/hand, you just have to pull down, which will cause a very nasty and deep slice.

It won't be instantly incapacitating, but I reckon it'd cause a break in that you could then flee (having severed veins, arteries, and tendons in your arm will make you rethink what you're doing).

Probably a good self-defense piece rather than say, a fighting weapon, IMO.

If I were a female walking the city due to work, I'd carry the smaller Spyderco "hawkbill" versions for this reason (same type of blade, it's just smaller overall).

I'm so tired of TV shows and movies and video games making it look like fighting is cool. Fighting is not cool. Those are actual people with actual thoughts and feelings, and I believe you should only hurt them either when there is no other choice, or if they have personally hurt you or someone you love and you think they deserve it. I want to write a story where the main character doesn't like to fight (Apart from one person who personally hurt her) but she still finds ways of being great at getting stuff done and resolving things, usually by just being annoying or smart, or both.

sounds like it'd work in a vacuum type scenario... like, a perfectly set stage. for the most part, most people aren't hyper-vigilant-ly so that they'd have their thumb on a blade ready to risk maiming the next person that tries to ask them for directions. besides the point, a knife quickly belongs to whomever is stronger in a close quarter struggle. so, the average woman might get a surprise superficial cut in with such a thing, but after the surprise of it's presence, it'd immediately become a liability because it'd immediately raise the stakes of the conflict to a life or death situation and peak an adrenal response in her assailant. so now, the guy who was already twice her size before, is now many times faster, stronger, and more perceptive with a much higher pain tolerance, yet less rational in a heated moment of either frenzy or flight... the problem there being the high enough probability that someone insane enough to try to assault an innocent stranger in such a manner is probably more likely to frenzy over choosing to flee. this alone doesn't account for how said woman would respond from the shock and fear of being surprise assaulted... it is unknown if her mind would remain sharp or go blank, or if her body would even remain alert or seize up and not respond ideally... such can lead to all kinds of extra bad if she's holding a knife and unable to use it safely and effectively without it coming back upon herself, let alone guard it from being pried from her hand/s.

from a grab from behind scenario, even a petite woman would likely have a better chance of safe escape in quickly/suddenly tucking her head down with her chin toward her collar bone(to protect the throat if there's a knife incorporated in the hold) and shrugging her shoulders toward her ears, dropping to the floor landing squatting on her feet or landing on the side of her bum to avoid hitting her tailbone, while throwing an elbow behind her on the way down(much of the torso's front is quite vulnerable to staggering pain if not potentially resulting in a knockout when struck during the muscle loosening inhale that may come from the startle of a quick unexpected action). from the ground, she could quickly scramble to her feet and run. seriously, dropping to the floor is a counter intuitive move from how men typically think to respond during a fight, so it's likely to throw a male aggressor off guard in a way in which they'd have no plan of immediate action. many people say to aim a backward strike at the groin, but that's probably the worst place to bother when you've only got a single chance at a surprise counter attack considering the groin is one of the most subconsciously well guarded spots of any male during a conflict... so, most shots to the groin get blocked(unless hit as a follow up from a distracting feint or strike elsewhere), and the aggressor would then be on higher alert to guard against any further attempts of retaliation/escape.

anyway, it’s useful to know how to defend yourself without a weapon even if you like them, as weapons are rarely available within a moments reach when surprised, when somewhere conventional weapons are not permitted, or when poorly clothed for concealing such things.
