The reason Montgomery and Patton were so effective at fighting Rommel in North Africa was that the Brits had cracked the German Secret Code Rommel used, and were able to tell them in advance of his intended moves. (OK, they were also great tacticians. But the advance warnings helped speed things up.)

You can't go to Mozart's grave. His placement in the cemetary was lost shortly after his burial. A monument was erected in the cemetary so people would have a memorial.

The Titanic and the Kursk were never christened. (The Kursk was the Russian nuclear submarine that caught fire.) The Titanic was taken out to sea instead of being properly christened to test it's stopping distance (! !! !????) The Kursk wasn't christened because the bottle of Russian Champagne didn't break when it hit the prow.

The U-2 airplane had only two landing wheels, one in front of the other like a bicycle. The wings were so wide and so thin they drooped when it was on the ground. The wheels were designed that way to save weight. It was believed that it flew too high to get shot down. They were wrong.
