I've never seen a mushroom that big.

I wonder what fairies would think of giant mushrooms?

I really appreciate a fungi.

I don't think mushrooms agree with me, even though I like eating them. I slice them into thin pieces and fry them in margarine and garlic mix and tamari sauce.

It was suggested I also post this photo here...originally from the thread of happiness today...this is not my photo, it is a book cover. I had discovered some oyster mushrooms fruiting on a morning walk. They tasted delicious sauteed in butter.



I am also trying to cultivate oyster mushrooms and have spawn in logs, cardboard and old cotton clothing.

I've read some interesting myths about toxic mushrooms. One of the weirder ones is that they will turn anything made made of silver black, like a spoon or a pot. Another one is that toxic mushrooms always taste bad. But people who have eaten the death cap, where only half a cap is deadly enough to a full-grown human, have said that it actually tasted good. There really isn't really any way to tell if wild mushrooms are safe to eat unless you're an expert.

I bought some mushrooms to appreciate on pizza.

Not too many fungi out and about near Christmas, but I have occasionally come across trees listening to us in the winter.

I grew so many mushrooms that I had way more than I would want to get caught with. I'm definitely a fan of mushrooms.
