I haven't been very active but reading up on some of the stuff that has taken place here the person who first recommended me the site and described it as something like "a safe space to learn about the disorder" must have been crazier than me.

Then as I hit the post button it suddenly dawns on me that I misinterpreted it and I frantically hit the edit button before anyone finds out I'm really a fool :jester:

It's pretty funny (or tragic) to think about how much of the conflict in the world starts that way.

In the first 3 years I learned how supportive the majority of members were, how knowledgeable some were, and the prevailing ethos of that time was inclusive and cohesive. In the years since 2016 however, a significant downturn took place, and the spiral continues. I have learned lately that it is toxic for me to stay much longer.

It was probably 3 Sep 2016 that the downturn started

What I have learned on this forum over the years:

Aspies also get uncomfortable with people who are very different and also single them out

Aspies are just as judgmental and jump to assumptions as anyone else

Aspies also believe their friends more and side with them just like anyone else

Aspies are capable of gossip

Aspies also get tired of hearing about your special interest like anyone else

People here will think a post is about them

Autistic Americans are just as ridiculous and overly opinionated when it comes to politics as non-autistic Americans.

americans generally hate warm drinks other than hot coffee/tea and hot toddies. also the "chunk of ice" has a carnal aspect to it.
