Imagine telling one of those lumps of plastic and bolts to tell you they "want you", and "need you".
I can also imagine one of them taking the place of Rachael in the film, or even a whole Bladerunner re-make, with all the replicants being 'played' by those things. Wouldn't be quite the same now, would it.
