In 1968, the British music group, The Zombies, broke up.
Their last album, Odessey and Oracle, was released after their break up.
The album contained a hit song, Time of the Season.
Delta Promotions wanted to cash in by sending The Zombies on tour in the United States, but the band members had gone on to other things.
So Delta Promotions formed bands with new talent. More than one concocted version of The Zombies was formed and toured simultaneously. Then a member of the British R&B group The Animals attended and exposed the deception. I think a fight broke out.
blah blah blah - to the point.
Delta Promotion broke up the fabricated versions of The Zombies. However, two of the members of one of the fabricated bands were from Texas, and they formed ZZ Top.
(I learned this from the podcast Aaron Manke's Cabinet of Curiosities. However, I did not learn the name of the episode. 8O )

That the phrase "down the Swanee" originates from one of Stephen Foster's songs. Awww.

I cannot imagine what I will do with this knowledge. It can only go up.

@Irulan, it has been (doing math, counting fingers...) eleven days, and I am still making use of Kot and Koty. Where as I had to think "what does ailurophile mean again?"

There is something called "The Shaggy Defense", where you can defend yourself in court by simply saying "It wasn't me", no matter how much evidence they have to prove you're guilty of the crime. It comes from a song by Shaggy (not the Scooby-Doo character).

Today I learned about Pangolin biology.

Everything on this channel is riveting, I find.
I sent it to my son. He sent me this.

It was interesting as well. Not riveting, but interesting. :)

Not true. No matter how much someone says "it wasn't me", it is still entirely possible, and common, to have sufficient evidence for a conviction. I mention only so that nobody actually tries this defense, or thinks it's an actual legal strategy.

It's a theory, anyway. I know there's no justice in the world anymore, so many people who have committed horrific crimes are walking around free.

That my accent is 69 percent German through an app that detects accents. I'm not at all surprised.

Because of the so-called Spanish flu in 1918, the average lifespan dropped from 54 years to 41 years.

I can hardly believe I would have likely had only 3 more years to live in 1917, and have outlived most people in 1918. 8O

But it looks like the average life span now will drop a lot more because of the horrible flu now that will become a pandemic this winter. :(
