A package didn't come in that was actually out for delivery today, thanks to the completely unintelligent people working at our post office. They tried to say that they "attempted delivery at 6 pm" which is total bullsh*t because our living room is right beside the front door, and there is always a dog and a person in that room. The dog barks at everyone who steps foot on our porch, and if they had attempted to knock, like any intelligent person would, the person down there at the time would've known and answered the door. My only thought on this matter at this point is that they lied about the time and instead was simply lazy beyond all belief.
What all has annoyed me about it is the following:
1. I was never notified (as I should've been) that this package required a signature to be delivered.
2. Until today, there was nothing to suggest that it would require a signature. It was never mentioned, nor implied within the description of the tracking system, nor in any other fashion that would notify me of such a thing.
3. The mail ran earlier today than usual, while this isn't necessarily a problem, the mail carrier obviously didn't knock on the door since there was someone down in the living room that could've signed for the package, and would have.
4. The carriers are supposed to leave a notice on the door or in the mailbox of an attempted delivery (this is also a means to reschedule by giving them the delivery number, or submit your signature so they may leave it if necessary), and they didn't even do that. In fact, if I had not checked the sites that I check when I have orders out, I would have never known that I needed to contact them.
5. Since the supposed "delivery attempt" was made at "6 pm", I have come to the following possible conclusions:
A). They attempted it earlier in the day, but instead of knocking on the door, used the nonfunctional door bell, and didn't bother to knock to double check.
B). They attempted it at the time announced, but instead of knocking on the door, used the nonfunctional door bell, and didn't bother to knock to double check.
C). They didn't attempt to deliver due to a lost article and are attempting to cover their a**es
D). They didn't attempt delivery at all, and instead are covering for a theft (unlikely, but possible).
E). (most likely) The mail carrier is completely incompetent and doesn't know how to deliver things that supposedly need a signature.
At this point I'm ready to suggest rather heavily to them, that they train their carriers on how to properly make deliveries. One of which being that you don't ring a d*mn door bell that may or may not be working. Always knock on the door, if you don't get an answer, then you leave the required slip, notifying the residents of the attempt. None of which was done today.
I know how you feel about the postal service because I've been having problems with em lately too. The last two times I had a package that required a sig I paid attention to the tracking & got up early & waited around for it all day the day it was out for delivery & it didn't come in. I requested a Redelivery early that night for the next day so I'd be sure it would come in then. A week or so ago I had 3 packages come in all on different days & the tracking did not require a signature. The packages weren't delivered on the days they were out for delivery & the the tracking info said there was a notice left due to no suitable location to leave it. I may of not been up when they knocked but parcel boxes are located behind the mail boxes & all 3 of the packages were small enough to fit in them & there was no notice left in the mail box or on the door. The carrier must not of felt like going back to the box to leave a notice so didn't bother to leave one. Thankfully sense I was watching the tracking info I rescheduled delivery for the next day so that meant getting up early a couple days in a row to get different packages. The hospital was supposed to mail me a folder last week of paperwork for a surgery I'll be getting next month & form that I need my GP to fill out will be in there. I didn't get the folder in yet & I was worried that it may be too big to fit in the mail box so they carrier just knocked on the door instead of using the parcel boxes & didn't want to go back to the mail box to leave a notice that delivery was attempted. I called the hospital about it Tuesday & they said they put it in the mail that day. When I scheduled the surgery the women talked like the folder would get mailed in a couple days instead of them mailing it the next week. Hopefully the folder will be in tomorrow.
