Also, speaking of watching fingers; something for TitanGeek "it is like a finger pointing at the moon. Don't watch the finger or you will miss all that heavenly glory" from Mr Lee, but scripted.

here is something interesting i read in "news of the weird"-
for those who stress-out when made to verify their IDs by biometric scans of fingerprints or eyeballs or such, japan's advanced institute of industrial technology has invented a chair frame that authenticates merely by the user sitting down: it's a butt scanner. professor shigeomi koshimizu's butt scanner makes a map of the user's unique butt shape, with 256 degrees of pressure at 360 different points, and could be used not only to protect cars and such from theft but also, when connected to a computer, to block log-ons by people with unauthorized butts. isn't this neat? 8)

Am struggling to recall much trivia atm, as is probably quite apparent...
it's all up there somewhere, just buried slightly and needs prompting..
Like if someone mentions the infamous blue whale I would be reminded that the bootlace worm is actually longer and that the honey mushroom is far and away the largest living thing so far discovered. There's one that's about 8sq kilometres if memory serves, think it's in south America too.. But anyway, I digress.
After a few months of not watching hours of films and other assorted media every day, I started to recall many things that were buried, reasonably vivid memories; helped by my tendency to think and remember in images... (its still far from perfect though )Hence, in part at least, this interest in anecdotes.
Any tales would be most welcome and I daresay it could be quite enjoyable for people to remember back for themselves.

so a story....
Once upon a time in England, I went to coordinating world of adventures for the first time.
My Dad, as was often his wont being imbued with a slightly odd sense of humour (which I've come to inherit, gladly), was teasing me on and off all day about daring to go on the vampire ride.. He had me fooled that it went upside down in the dark indoor section and I was pretty damn scared.. Eventually though I called him and went for it. Then twice more :) it was awesome, scary and exciting as I guess most who have enjoyed such a thing would agree..
I've since been on pretty much every rollercoaster in the country, except the big one sadly, and every remotely exciting ride I could. Same with euro Disney... I even went on one of those 'slingshot' bungee thingamajigs which left me shaking but grinning like an idiot.
Was not my intention to include a moral to the story, but I suppose the obvious and rather pertinent one is that facing entr'acte fears can sometimes be very rewarding and open up new and most enjoyable experiences.
Anywho, apologies for the length but this was more for myself and those that might be interested than as something to please everyone... And for that, no apology will be made ;)
Your turn now though, I'm sure many people have done many things and that some at least are fit for polite discussion.. so let's be 'avin ya

the album "kill 'em all" by Metallica was almost called "metal up your ass"...
vaguely related quote "it's all fun and games until someone loses an eye.. And then it's just fun you can't see" James hetfield

I looked up 'Fudo'......statues of him have 2 fangs; one points up, the other points down. Some paintings and statues of him have an aureole of flames. He has quite a fierce scowl. Personally, I would not even TRY to move him.

There are no green mammals. (It has been almost a year since this was posted, so I'm rerunning it.)

Meanwhile, in more original matters, I know something quite interesting about the triple point of water. We already know that the triple point of water is, indeed, 0.01 C (or, more correctly, 273.16 K). But what is quite interesting about water is that unlike other triple points, water's triple point does not represent the minimum temperature at which liquid water can exist.

For most other elements and compound, at temperatures below the melting point, vapour at low pressure will deposit directly into a solid as pressure increases (or sublimate as pressure decreases). However at certain high pressures, the melting point of water actually falls below the triple point temperature.

Dear Visagrunt , Sloths are frequently green. They have mildew growing on them. No joke, just Google 'sloth mildew'. They also smell really, really bad.

Fudo looks fierce it's true but he is a servant (the way his hair is displayed) he protects those on the path to enlightenment. The fierce visage is intentional though, to frighten those who stray from the path and demons who would hinder them from following it..

The fangs and flames are significant for other reasons though, explained somewhere In this thread.
More dangerous than fangs is the dragon sword! not to mention rope...
Then there's Joju Kongo... But that's another story. ;)

I found this interesting, that's why I made it.

I'm not sure that many others found it quite so....

Ah, but they, themselves, aren't green. If I put on a green pullover, I may look green, but that doesn't mean that I am green.

I feel like I haven't seen this thread in six months. Probably because I haven't. O_O
