I hope you continue to do well at your chess club I'm alright just now, just on the computer and watching football in the background. I enjoy watching the international games.

There's football on now? I thought it had all finished for summer. Are you a big sports fan then?

Its olympic football now, club football will be resuming in a few weeks across the UK. Not a massive fan, but I do enjoy watching and doing certain sports. Wouldn't mind going skiing again when the warm weather goes away, not been in years. What happens after the 3 games, is it group games just now then certain players advance to the next round?

Oh, I didn't realise Olympic sport had kicked off already (no pun intended!). I saw something about that in the paper today, I think, but I thought it was training or something. Ahh, skiing is something I don't think I'd try. I'm easily scared to be honest and don't like getting hurt!

Chess tournaments aren't usually knockouts. Usually, tournaments have quite a few entries and everyone in a given section (sections are based on grade/playing strength) will play 5 or 6 games. Here, though, they've limited it to 7 per section, so it's an all-play-all. In both kinds, just the person with the highest score wins (you get 1 point for a win and 0.5 for a draw).

The olympics will be officially be starting tomorrow, think the football started a bit early to avoid any conflicts with other sports I'm not sure. I learned it originally at a young age, I had a few falls but nothing major. I remember one of which was whacking into a barrier because I didn't stop fast enough

Yeah, that's what I thought. One of the Meetup groups I belong to is going to Hyde Park, where there's lots going on. I'd have to leave work quite early, though and plus there's this guy who's going and I think he used me before :/. Ouch, that sounds quite painful to me! I guess if you were young, you healed quickly!

Got confused. I've played 4 games so far, so have two left. The next one is in a fortnight and the last one the week after that.

I don't think I would like to go down there myself. Too much going on and too many people, would be a bit of a sensory overload I reckon! In what way did you think he used you, what happened? It wasn't that bad actually, just had the wind knocked out of me

Yeah, I know a lot of people on WP would feel the same about the sensory overload stuff. It wouldn't bother me to be honest. Oh, I'll explain about the using thing another time I think! . Even just having the wind knocked out of me would have been too much!

I'm on a score of 2/4, from 1 win and 2 draws. To be honest, though, that second draw was a won game for me; I just got a bit stuck and took a draw cos I couldn't see what to do .
