Hi CR and Moon!

Oh dear Colin, you've confused me with someone who's nice. Hmm I have often found actually that it's when I feel really bad that it spurs me on to take some kind of action. I suppose that may be similar for a lot of people. :chin: Ah no, the group I go to isn't related to ASD's; I never quite know how to describe it really, it's for people with mental helath problems or who have behaviour or drug/alcohol problems. Unfortunately I don't really feel there's anyone there who is in quite the same situtaion as me and most of them are older. I don't think the NAS does anything particularly local to me, and even if they did I probably wouldn't be able to attend as I don't have a diagnosis. I did try and ring them on several occassions actually but they were always busy and said to try later and I gave up in the end.

I know what you mean, I often have such trouble knowing how to word my posts!

Haha, I don't believe I'm mistaken! I think you are a nice and caring person, not enough people are like that sadly. I think that is the case with most things, with me anyway. It takes something either strongly negative or positive to motivate me to do something. Right now, some of my motivation has been lacking as I'm steadily in the middle in that regard. Hmm, so is your group a general support group then? While those type of groups can help, ideally a specialized group would be preferred. Its all about what you get from it, if you feel it benefits you in some way then its a good thing you attend.

The group I attended was prospects employment support, which focused on social skills as well as aspects of the working world. As I said, for the most part it was stuff I was already aware of and some other things I didn't like. They only run this in Glasgow and London, so wouldn't be much use to you even if you did consider. Bit disappointed to hear they weren't too keen to help you, or did you mean the lines were busy?

Umm thanks.
I suppose the group would come in that sort of category yeah. Mainly it's just people sat around informally chatting. They occassionally have courses (confidence building for example) but the last one I didn't feel able to go to as I was still new, hopefully I can take part in the next one. They try and encourage members to get involved in organising things aswell. I think it is good for me in some ways, even if it's just getting out and speaking to people or at least trying to!

I'd never heard of that group but I just looked it up. It seems there are few different courses under that scheme unless I misunderstood! It's a pity these things don't always live up to what they aim to. :/ Hmm that would be a bit far for me! I managed to get through to the switchoboard of the NAS but they always told me there was no one available to speak to but I might give it another go at some point if I can pluck up the courage.

I'd better be going but I'll see you all soon I expect!

That's OK, I was only telling truth :D That's good that its an informal setting, although it can make me feel anxious if friendships have already been established. When is the next course running? Confidence building and things like that would be helpful to those like ourselves. My executive functioning isn't that great either as I think I've mentioned previously, so these things sound like good things to build on. I hope it goes well for you.

As for prospects, it only runs in Glasgow and London. I'm not sure if NAS offer any other courses or groups. I wasn't told about any others anyway. At the end of it you are supposed to be lined up with some work experience, basically volunteering for one day a week. I've been done for weeks and I've yet to have mine arranged, despite phoning a few times. I already have some previous experience so I'm not that bothered. Wouldn't of minded it for something to do though, but it doesn't portray the course in a good light due to this. Hopefully the others got something lined up as they were some there that hadn't had any work experience at all.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy the rest of your evening. Hopefully get to speak to you again tomorrow :)

I was just rather sick for some reason
Annoying part was, it seemed to get worse when I tried going to sleep
Kept me up until about 2-3 AM so that wasn't very helpful
