Anybody know of two very different chemicals that can be mixed and then naturally separated but are altered in their separated form? to the point to where they are both something else.

I am not sure exactly what you are trying to ask for but how about a mixture of the two stereoisomers of the tri-(ethylene diamine) complex of cobalt(III). Mix that with a tartarc acid salt and you can then resolve them into the stereoisomers becuase one is much more soluble than the other.

Then if you boil one with a cataylst (I think charcoal will work) you can get back to making a mixture again.

I did well enough in Chemistry but most of it's forgotten now. So... what if you mix two solutions together and they form a precipitate? Does that satisfy the altered state and natural separation criteria? I'm having flashbacks to blue copper sulfate crystals for some reason, dunno if that's relevent.
