my kitty is injured

it's his foot. I don't know how he injured it. All I know is that he can't walk on it. It's his hind right paw. When I look at it, he withdraws it and when I try to insist, he'll hiss. I'm guessing it's broken.

My credit sucks, my family can't help and we don't have much money. I don't know what to do.

please let me know what to do.

Oh no. Poor baby. Is he an indoor or outdoor cat? Age? (I used to work with an animal rescue agency).

And it's a back leg, right? It's most likely broken but it may heal on its own. The problem is that without xrays it won't heal straight. But if you don't have the money, you don't have the money. You've just got to love him through it and he may end up with a limp when it heals. Some vets may see animals on a goodwill basis but I don't know where you live. You could call a local animal shelter and ask. Sometimes they do things free of charge. We did at the agency I worked at. Give him a smooch for me. Poor guy. (and I mean the cat, not you digger )

The first thing I would do would be to pour some 70 % rubbing alcohol on it to make sure it doesn’t get infected. Do it in the bathroom so he can’t get away and make sure he doesn’t lick it for a few minutes at least.It may not be broken but only scratched. Cats use their hind legs when fighting.

thats the wrong thing to do, rubbing alcohol is toxic, the cat doesn't have an open wound, and if it did, it would be in more pain.
If the cat is injured digger, then take it in to the vet, its very irresponsible for a pet owner to let a pet suffer needlessly, your going
to have to figure out a payment plan with the vet.

First you could examine the leg really good, the hair makes it difficult to see wounds in a good way.
If it is a wound, you could remove some hair and clean it properly and keep the cat inside for a few days to prevent further wounding.

When you do not find anything you could try to get some money to visit a vet.

Ethyl alcohol and isopropyl alcohol is quite toxic especially in smaller mammals whose kidneys can't handle it. They'd either go completely blind, their renal system would fail or both or they'd croak. Either way, no thanks.

peroxide. We poured some peroxide on it and it fizzed like nobody's business. Also neosporin isn't toxic to mammals and we applied some of that to the area. We'll do that a few times a day provided he's comfortable with it.

He's slowly being able to put pressure on it. I've been monitoring him throughout the night. He's gone from not being able to put any pressure on it and walking on three feet to walking on four feet and limping. He's able to jump up on things and jump down from heights. My wife and I are thinking - guessing really that his claw is mangled and that there might not be a fracture.

Are there no animal charities in your area who could help with the vet fees? I don't know where yuo are but we have the PDSA here who help with vet fees in emergencies. Also, get insurance... it may cost a lot but it's better than spending upwards of £1000 on vets fees!

Now, to add insult to injury, there's someone on another board who's pissed that I backed out of a transaction. Yeah, we've had issues in the past and stuff but dammit, I need the money to get Obi's foot fixed! I didn't save him from the brink of death as a kitten and raise him since then just to be short $40 and have to put him down because of an infection or something!

Fine, if he wants to think I'm being difficult and ret*d or whatever and compare me to his own kid with aspergers, that's fine but I'm tending to my cat!

Why do people do that anyway? "Well, my friend/son/relative has this/that/the other thing and he or she doesn't do that."

Did your friend/son/relative have my life experiences? I take it he was diagnosed early and not in his thirties? I take it his parents actually care about him and won't abandon him?

Don't worry about anything other than your kitten. It's a living creature and way more precious than any material goods. *rubs kitty again*

Hey Digger, Im very sorry to hear about your cat and really gets worried for both you and the cat and Im sorry you also was insulted and judged by someone else.

Its awful how money can rule someones health so much
I just wish there could be some kind of way to raise money for you or to set up an agreement with the vet to pay him off during a longer period
Because your cat honestly needs vet attention and it would suffer more if not beeing treated properly
Its good that the leg seemes to get better and the cat can put some pressure on it but maybe its temporary and it cant heal properly if not beeing treated by a vet

If you love your cat then take him to the vet now, and try not to worry about money please!
