This is something I have been struggling with quite a bit in recent months, and I haven't yet arrived at an answer. Therefore, I can't tell you much about what gives my own life meaning. However, I would still like you to share with the rest of the message board, what gives yours meaning and or purpose. So this thread is not so much about figuring out the actual meaning of life, but rather what life means to you on a personal level. What do you live for? What are your goals, what do you hope to achieve in long term, and what provides you with a feeling of fulfillment or make you content in day-to-day life or short term? And what are the important things in your life, whether abstract or physical, that you consider to be pillars, cornerstones or constants in your own world? This could be illuminating.

Important thing to me are family (incuding pets) and interests.
I'm at university now so I want to finish my degree and then maybe do a masters. Definitely continue with studying in some way though.

My life does feel kind of pointless a lot, but I feel better if I go for a walk and listen to some music. I like nature, that makes my life feel less pointless.

Also overcoming my problems (AS, social, communication, anxiety). Yeah you can't fix the AS, but you can learn to get round things and deal with it better. That's an ongoing process.

Goals? Hopefully meet a girl I can be with, become more independent and have a decent career,

I like planning life, learning new knowledge and skills and setting goals and reaching them. I like acheiving things, big goals and small ones step by careful step towards the life I want to have in the future and what I want to know about the world. Its what I feel gives my life purpose.

My dreams.

Nothing. Just glad to be alive... although I'm miserable. It's a weird conundrum.

Randomness. That's all I have at the moment. I like to mess with people, albeit in a harmless way, by contradicting myself (for example I say stuff like "I always do that sometimes" and walk off) and ranting on about things that can't be true. I like to think I've made the world a slightly more interesting place. I wouldn't mind an other half though

Thanks everyone for the input. I must say I was especially touched by these:

I'm so used to seeing the notion of having or finding a purpose in life as a selfish matter: 'What is MY place in this world, how will I establish and develop MYSELF?' And then you two come in, and for you what's most important is another little person you helped bring into the world. That must have been an eye-opening experience.

And Ryan, having randomness as your purpose/reason for living makes it sound like you're very much someone who takes life from day to day, ceasing the moment.

Keep them coming...

Realizing that this is my only chance to perceive existence how I do, and once I die I can never have it back. Even if I become sick and miserable, I still mine as well play it out til' the true end.

I try to give my life purpose myself, because in truth, nothing or no one else can. :)

Wow digger....what a beautiful girl you got there!

Not sure what my purpose is anymore but I've tried to help and be around my family more. I think death has sort of given me some meaning not to take the people who love me and are around me for granted. I still miss my nephew and grandparents but I've been trying to focus on the people that're still alive and in my life right now.
