I have aspergers and I am suspected of having dyslexia as well. Anyway more to the point in my family I am more comftable with giving a hug to my sibling and strangers but not my parents? Has this got something to do with my autism or is it just because of the fact I am 19?

I suppose it depends on the individual. I will not hug anyone else, or if I do it will be with a certain level of discomfort, other than my mom. Strangers are an absolute no-no. It could be due to the fact that you feel so 'different' from your parents. I know I feel different from my father and siblings, so a hug from them is almost unthinkable.

I have three sisters that I frequently hug, and I hug my mother and father as well. I also like hugging the girl I'd be together with. But it's very ackward and sometimes impossible to hug strangers. It's never my initiative though, no matter who it is.

I think many teens are embarrassed even to be seen with their parents, let alone touching them.

Very true. This is a normal part of growing up and leaving the nest. It will have passed by the time you are in your mid 20's.

It's probably the fact that you're 19. For me I hate hugging my mum (unless I'm ill) and have done for years but it isn't out of ebarrassment it's just uncomfortable.
