Does anyone else completely peel the banana (and take the skin off) before starting to eat it? I do, and I've been told that this is extraordinarily weird. I guess most people just leave the skin on and peel-as-they-go.

no i peel the banana as i need to. i do not like to hold a bare banana in my hand.
i have handled banana slices with my fingers before when i was trying to arrange them on a dish, and they are very unsavoury to hold.

they seem to dissolve into a bruise and they feel snotty on my fingers. i must wash my fingers immediately after touching a bare banana.
i do not like bananas much any way.

i almost never eat food that has been in my fingers grasp. if i get a hamburger, i always use the wrapper to hold it. if there is no wrapper and i have to hold it with my hands (like the ones that are put in in styrofoam packages after they are cooked), then i always hold the same place on the burger when i am eating it, and i discard the bit i was holding because it is slightly squashed and not appetising.
i do hold some foods like chips and things.

anyway i always peel banana's i eat as i go.

You are no longer extraordinary, and it's not our fault if "they" do it wrong.

I prefer to the whole thing making sure there are no bugs or worms

If others don't mind finding a half of a worm, more power to em.

And what about the bananas POV, I wanna make sure it dies quick.

Not some sadistic slow torturous death smiling at every slow rip of the skin.

Bananas have worms? Anyways, that's not the reason I do it. I think I do it because I just sort of learned that way, more of sequential processing.

Actually bananas are pretty safe as a rule,

due the fact most are imported while very green

upon arrival, they fumigate the container with a gas

This turns them yellow, and kills pretty much everything

Although a dead worm is a worm regardless, not to worry

Green bananas can almost be used for a hammer, very hard

OK boys and girls, this concludes today's lesson, test tomorrow.

I normally completely peel the banana. :D I like to check and see if there are any bruises. Plus I don't like the skin. You are not alone!

Not only do I peel the entire skin off before eating, but I open the banana at the end that is not the part connecting it to the tree. Monkeys open bananas the same way.

I always completely peel the banana, there's no reason why but it's something I've always done.

Excellent! I no longer feel like such a banana-peeling freak. :)

I think I peel it all the way to know what I'm in for, i.e. how much of the banana is brown. Once I take those off, I know exactly what the experience is going to be like... no surprises.

Another thing I do strangely with bananas is cut them with the side of my spoon when slicing them into cereal. Most people go get out the knife, but the side of my spoon is perfectly cut out for the job. I definitely learned this from my father (who is, as far as I have ever given thought to it, NT).

I agree. Holding a bare banana is just messy and it has a gross texture.
However I do like eating them. I just peel the skin as I eat.
