When you don't know who you are (....or "Do I fit?"
I've been trying to write this like for the whole day and I just keep erasing the first line over and over until I'm frustrated enough to post this without caring if it makes sense.
Today I was reading an article that I always read on Tuesdays and someone suggested Asperger as a solution of one of the problems exposed and as I usually do I started by google-ing and got to this place.
I'm all confused...for my entire life I thought I wasn't quite a normal person but that I had to try to look normal, and by reading some posts I found I'm not alone but still I'm not sure if Asperger could be the answer of why I haven't fit in my own life for the last 25 years.
I live in a less-than-a-3rd-world country so I won't expect anyone (dr.) to tell me what's wrong with me (IF there's something wrong) so I'll just give you my background and if you could comment about it would be great... if not, well then I'll keep searching.
I was an incredible smart little girl. I started talking by the age of 9mo and by the age of 3 I started reading when I was 8 I had finished most of the Shakespeare titles and loved Oscar Wilde...my teachers always complaint about my lack of concentration and therefore I was always interrupting class by doing everything except what i was meant to do. Never did homework until High School. But I always excelled in math, physics and literature (and stayed in detention all afternoon every single day) ...I have tried to write a blog and can't keep posting for more than 2 days in a row..Actually I'm not sure if I'll come back and read the comments from this post...I'll try to do so, I'm really interested on this subject. Anyway I taught myself english (I know you've noticed that this is not my native language) and I was able to go traveling all by myself. I do have friends... like 5, but I have a horrible time when I try to make new friends...or keeping them. Eye contact is not a real problem for me...although I don't really look people in the eye, I try to focus on their eyebrows in that way it makes them feel less uncomfortable, this is something I've learned with the time... and sometimes I keep staring at people but I'm not looking at them! I'm just thinking on something else and ppl happen to be in front of me, that happens a lot but it might be due to my lack of concentration or excessive daydreaming.
I have a bachelor con computer science, im getting a master's degree con IT Management and still have issues with concentration.I can't hold my attention for more than 10 minutes unless it catches my attention (I can talk about world war II and religion - not one religion in specific but the history- all day long without caring if the rest of the ppl are interested) and I need to re-read everything, even if it's my own writing.
I have an incredible memory for useless (and ONLY useless) things and can recreate a whole conversation even if I wasn't participating in the conversation (last sunday a friend mentioned something that happened 4 years ago and I was able to tell her that the unknown girl that invited her a cigarette had a cute lighter in the form of a pink shoe)
I'm totally unable to say which is my left hand and which is my right hand (well I got married and now I know "the left one is the one with the ring!") and I can't drive.... not even a bycicle.
Anyway, I've been dealing with all this glitches my entire life and felt out of place. I know I fit in some symptoms of Asperger and that no one but an expert will be able to tell me if I have it or not, but reading your posts have giving me some sort of belonging-ness and any comment will be appreciated.
Thanks!!
P.S. sorry if i don't have any writing skills and everything is messy.
No need to be concerned about messy writing,
my reading is messier than your writing.

May I have the HONOR of being the first to tell you
Our "AH HA" moments, are better than their "Ha Ha" moments
I do not wish Aspergers on anyone, it is not sociably acceptable for most of us.
However it is a cure for the doubt that we once had about ourselves, concerning social acceptability.
You will find whatever it is that you are looking for here, only You know what that is.
It may be anything from experience to knowledge or even an excuse.
You are welcome to share what we have found.
And we hope you share your findings.
Though you came just to know,
may you stay and grow.
It's some sort of funny how I got here and all the things I discovered yesterday about myself.
I talked to my husband last night and he confessed that he knew something wasn't right with me at the moment he saw me in panic because our shopping cart in the supermarket wasn't arranged the way it has to be according...well according to me. He has believed all this time that I was some sort of obsessive compulsive mixed with a little dyslexia, clumsy-ness AND selfish-ness as I wouldn't pay attention to anyone if I didn't find anything interesting in conversations, but he never said anything because he thought he may hurt my feelings.
I think he felt glad I could put a name on all those details that made me weirder than the rest of the people and I just feel fine to know that I'm not alone.
Thank you all!
