I just want to know if you know people like this

They are direct, straightforward, black and white, bottom line goal oriented people who motivate people out of fear and inadequency of themselves and others? They are often blunt and execute their goals roughly as long as they are accomplished. Very rational but unfeeling you may say.

What do you think of such people?

Most goal orientated people I know are not straightforward, black and white etc. In my world at least they tend to be rather conniving, the end seems to justify the means sort of people. I think the more rational straightforward type would be easier for me to distinguish. The people I have encountered are inconspicuous and one only realises their appetite for goal induced glory when it's too late.

My first boss was sort of like that. Except he wasn't especially rational or goal oriented. He just liked belittling people. (Luckily I was too far down on the totem pole to be noticed.) In his own mind, though, I'd bet he pictured himself as demanding, "tough but fair," goal oriented, and etc.

I think there is a fair bit of romance about being "Dr. House," and that IRL people who think of themselves as such really aren't that. That they're just jerks, and that other people don't challenge them not because they're so good, but because they're the boss.

This Guy

and

This Guy

Both have had a more than fleeting association with the IT industry.

Make of them what you will - they drive your world.

Add some good manners and they would be perfect.
