What kind of threads do you typically prefer to write in – those that were posted by other people or your own ones and for what reason? Personally, I prefer to participate in threads I posted because then I have more control over what’s happening in them. For example I am on marvel.com too (the X-Men section only because I don’t read other Marvel comics), maybe I’m not very active on that board but recognizable because 99% of my posts in there is threads posted by me.

i do not start threads.

i prefer to post in threads which are not very passionate (politically or philosophically) or emotionally "deep".
there are not many threads that crop up now that i am inclined to respond to.
there are "re-hashes" of earlier questions posted in earlier threads that i already responded to, so i do not feel like repeating my self to the same exacting degree as my original post to the earlier thread, and so i do not bother posting a reply.

i do not like to post in "please help me" threads because i have no idea what advice is appropriate to their minds.

i dislike the "sexual" threads where people talk about their sexuality. especially the gay related ones. it is extremely hard to say a word in those threads without getting howls of discontent from others.

i like threads that ask for a situational description of my discourse through random settings.

i like threads for example like "how do you behave in a large supermarket?".
i can answer that in a sterile and narrative fashion and get away with it without attracting dissenters.

some people just want to post as much as they can, and they are usually seen in threads like "last person to post wins".

i can not imagine wasting my time to bother saying anything in that thread.
yet it is among the most popular threads here.

but i am not as interested to "get my point accross" now on this site because i see that it is an arena of thousands of yelling minds, and i can never be heard in isolation among them.

depends on the title. If it sounds interesting, I'll kick into 'motormouth' mode...;)

I like to write in threads on subjects I can relate to and give examples of personal experiences as I find it comforting to find others with similar problems to my own. I avoid threads that could drag me into a debate as I'm the wrong kind of person for it.
