It's so complicated and there are so many different terms.. anarchist, minarchist, monarchist, libertarian, democracy (which apparently has nothing to do with democrats and is almost the same thing as a republic..) theocracy, communism... WTF. And those are just the ones I CAN remember.

The rest are far more confusing. (And then there are all the individual politicians, aaaaagh! And the laws and policies and relations between countries and leaders and all of that crazy stuff, aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh!!)

How are so many people interested in politics, and seem to know what's going on? It seems like you would have to study it exclusively for years just to be able to form an opinion you could rely upon. D: But somehow people KNOW all this stuff. I just asked a politics question in another forum, and some girl came along and explained it and then said "but you'll learn all that stuff when you start taking classes in high school and college." Way to bum me out, I'm 23! It took me that long just to be able to remember the words!

Please tell me some of you guys have a hard time with politics too.;;;

I have a very difficulty time remember politics. I've been told it's very complicated and a tough subject to learn.

Start reading national and international news, and especially opinion pieces.

Aah, I'm glad I'm not the only one, at least.
And thanks sefer, that's a good idea, I'll try it out.

Somehow these terms are pretty intuitive to me, perhaps as part of my parents' collection of political literature as well as talking politics on forums a lot.

I like Democratic Socialism, not to be confused with Social Democracy. :P

Yeah, if you just type 'news rss feed' into google you will find lots of different news websites that you can add straight into your browser (I use Firefox). They update pretty regularly.

Politics in the USA is opaque to me. I really can't make heads or tails out of it.
