The Zen Buddhists pondered over intentionally absurd statements like, "What is the sound of one hand clapping?" in order to escape the constricting binary logic and syllogisms the mind often finds itself ensnared. The top two things that get me into a similar "theta" state:

1. Reading the obits

2. The sound and feeling of taking a big hearty and fibrous dump

What are yours?

Minfulness is just that: in the mind. The mind is not you, because you can observe it. For that same reason, your emotions and your body is not you. Play with mindfulness all you want. There is nothing wrong with it. Just do not consider a gateway to who you really are. For that, go to youtube and do a search on "Tony Parsons".

I've read several of his books: "Invitation to Awaken", "All there is" and "As it is". I highly recommend him to those on the "spiritual search". Have you read any Jiddu Krishnamurthi? His teachings were very similar but the language more difficult to "understand" - I've got around 100 of his lectures on MP3.

Actually, I have not read anything by Jiddu Krishnamurthi. I realize now the counter-productiveness of any sort of seeking, which would include "earnest reading". I read non-dual texts for fun only. I most recently read This is It: The Nature of Oneness by Jan Kersschot. An interview (among many) with U. G. Krishnamurti (different guy) is in it. Recommended.
