Just wondering about peoples opinions of meltdowns and just loosing your temper. Are they they different or the same and if they are different, how?

Thanks in advance.

To me they are different.

Losing my temper is generally a response to a specific stimulus, and is rationally grounded. "I tried ten times to get this to compile," "people keep cutting in line, while I am waiting my turn," "I've asked him over and over again to do (insert chore here) and it's still not done."

Meltdowns typically come from multiple stimuli, coupled with a failure in my internal coping strategies.

I yell when I lose my temper and I cry when I have a meltdown.

the last time i lost my temper was like over 20 years ago. I'm way too controlling (of myself).

if I have a meltdown, I can hide it pretty well. I don't know what it's like for other people, and I didn't know anything about them at all until I came to this planet, but if it happens when too many people are talking at the same time about different things, or talking very loudly. I will get a headache, then pretend I want to take a nap, and lie down where it's quiet. it feels like very bright lights in my eyes, but for sounds. except it affects my eyes too for some reason. I can't explain how I feel, but it seems to be completely unrelated to anger or temper issues.

Or I just cover my ears, if there isn't too much. But if I can get some words into the conversation, then there's slightly less chance of me having to leave. I do want to leave, but i would be too interested in talking to care about how my eyes or ears feel. That never happens, of course. The part about me conquering a conversation, that is.

That's definitely sounds too much like me and I also tend to punch or sometimes harm myself when i'm really having a meltdown.
Now I can just about control my screaming part.

Funny enough, ive never really hurt anyone while i'm having a meltdown or hit... I did back in the days when I was little and I would always get told off for it. Even at school, I would of got into alot of trouble which also did lead me into gettiing diagnosed and transfered to another school.
