Like any other types of meat that aren't mainstream? (etc. beef, poultry, pork)

I'm a big rabbit fan. My father and stepmother had a rabbit business on their ranch, we had a few hundred rabbits in cages. They would raise them, and chop the critters themselves to sell them to a local grocery chain as well as private deliveries. We had rabbit for dinner frequently. But some m'f'r burnt down the rabbitry building and at some point we stopped the business. So I haven't had rabbit for years, unfortunately.

I lived out in the open desert earlier in my life, and while my father and I were driving down a dark road we hit a deer that had attempted to run across the road. We took it home and ate it. Pure redneck. Venison is damn good.

Well, I'm a vegetarian. I never ate rabbits before though, I've had dozens as pets. They are such cute little animals, with great personalities.

I've had duck, grouse, sandhill crane, pheasant, rabbit, alligator, bison, antelope, and venison.

Moose meat is alright, but stringy.

Awesome. One con to my region is that stuff is hard to come by. If I want to have rabbit again I've gotta go across town for it, and as with all that other stuff it sucks I live in a region I can't hunt. Then again, I'm not sure I could handle the slaughtering part anyway. 8O :puke:

Don't mind a bit of rabbit :)

Tried possum, emu, ostrich, crocodile, buffalo, lizard, snake, venison. All pretty good. Will give anything a go.

Wat about 'alternative parts' of the animal e.g offal? I'm a big fan of liver and kidneys, and used to love eating crumbed lambs brains (super high protein & easy digets, good for kids).

People think I'm crazy because I like beef liver with onions, but it's really good when cooked right, the problem is that the margin for error with cooking liver is very small and most people overcook it, making it taste nasty.

Cattle brains with eggs is a traditional breakfast food in some parts of the US, especially in the South IIRC. Never tried brains, though, sounds nasty. Brains are really high in cholesterol, too.

Actually, Squirrel brains are the preferred option over cattle brains.

From experience, deep fried alligator tail is good, and steamed lamb brain isn't.

You should have no problem finding rabbit at a Mexican Carneceria. --You may possibly also find Iguana there as well.
