sealed glass golbes with organisms

round about 14 years ago, a shop at my local mall sold these nifty glass globes with small creatures and a plant inside. I guess the principle was they would remain alive if provided enough light and heat while encapsulated in the sphere.

any idea what they were called or where I can get one?

oh...alive...my grandmother had several dead ones that had seahorses and tiny sea plants encased in resin.. i was fascinated by them as a child.

The plants make oxygen and food for shrimp, shrimp make carbon dioxide and fertilzer for the palnts. Bacteria break down the dead, releasiong nitrogen. A shell or dead coral is there to stabalize the ph levels

The shrimp are a long lizvd hawaiian species that live in tideal pools. They can survive in widly diffent conditions, from alkaline, to acedic, from very briney to brackish. The bigger the sphere the better. Custm ones goes up to 3 feet!
