I joined this site because I was diagnosed with AS earlier this year. The reason I am posting here is because I am looking for some advice. I have an 8 year-old brother that has AS as well, but his is more severe. The poor kid has to take meds for acid reflux due to stress and reactions caused by his AS. My mum told me that he is always talking to his pictures of me like I am there, wanting advice and to know why people are so mean and cruel about his being an Aspie. Is there anyone out there that can give me some advice for giving him advice on how to deal with the kids that are mean to him? I have tried talking to him like a friend, parent, and older sibling would. He erally does try to use my advice, but only tends to worsen the situations. I am tired of seeing him picked on and treated like I was in school. Any advice on howto interact with him since we both have Asperger's Syndrome, and the 16 year age gap? He is a really gentle and quiet kid. He just wants his big brother to give him some advice. He says to my pictures all the time that he is happy that I have AS, because it means that he isn't alone (that he has a friend--me--with it now). I just don't want to see him picked on and suffer in silence (he is too quiet and shy to say anything) anymore. Any suggestions of possible research on this situation would be appreciated.
