I want to listen to it, but I can hardly remember it!
Help me out here..
It's sung by an older man, pretty slow-paced... MAYBE sort of Scottish or Irish. It has either a similar vibe or instruments or something. Something that sounds old, not modern.
The lyrics are.. something about windmills and.. the big turbines turning or something. That's the only part I can remember.

People have identified songs with way less info I'm sure. XD;;; Does anyone know what song this is??

FOUND! Thank you flipflopjenkins, (and everyone) the song was "Windmills" by Alan Bell.

First thing in my head is Dire Straits' "Tunnel of Love" (...and the big wheel keep on turning, neon burning up above, and I'm just high on this world - come on and take a low ride with me...) which is slowish paced and I guess you could mistake Knopfler for Scots/Irish (heh; he's English but according to wiki he was actually born in Scotland, I never knew that).

Second thing is Massive Attack's "Hymn of the Big Wheel" (...the big wheel keeps on turning...) which is also slow paced.

Only song I know about windmills is The Gorillaz song...

"Windmill, windmill for the land
Turn forever, hand in hand"

The singer is British. But it's modern, and probably not what you're looking for.

I like that song. :3 But you're right, it's not the one I'm thinking of.

Now I'm really curious! And I've got the Bonzo Dog ^&"! Band's parody of "Windmills of Your Mind" stuck in me head.

How about (Canadian) Gordon Lightfoot's "Don Quixote"

"Through the woodland, through the valley,
Comes a horseman wild and free;
Tilting at the windmills passing,
Who can the bold young horseman be?"

There's a Thomas Dolby song called "Windpower" but I doubt it's that. :)

Nope, still not it. Gordon Lightfoot's "Don Quixote" has come the closest, so far, to the overall sound. I am really starting to think the song I'm thinking of has bagpipes in it though. But I could be wrong.

There are numerous different versions of Windmills of Your Mind out there, might want to check them all, just to be sure?

I have looked up a couple others because it is a good song, but I'm sure it's not the one I'm looking for. The melody and the pace and the impression given by the lyrics are all different.
I'm thinking the one I know must be pretty obscure. I know it from a CD my mom used to have. No idea what CD..

What about this song?

It's sung by Noel Harrison. He's British.
It's from the 1968 movie Thomas Crown Affair.
