I'm perusing the Google Maps with the street level shots. I feel like a spy or something! It's fun going to downtown Tokyo or Paris or looking up bad neighborhoods in Compton, CA.

Google Maps is very fun and useful! I have a hard time navigating around places in person with a map, so it helps to see what the road looks like, and if there are any distinguishing buildings or monuments before I actually travel there.

I've had these obsessions with google maps as well.

You're right, Google Maps is fun! I found Notre Dame in Paris and got so excited, as if I was actually there in real life! :D

Aside from that, I explored a bit of the Shinjuku district in Tokyo, Paseo Del Prado in Madrid, and some parts of San Francisco. This is getting addicting. :)

I cried before when I found my old neighborhood I really liked and took a virtual walk down it.

I like to take scenic "trips" such as the Pacific Coast Highway, the Costa del Sol (in Spain), and around Oahu and Maui in Hawaii.

I love Google Maps.

Without the maps, I wouldn't dream about RenCen, Ford Field and Joe Louis Arena.

And I wouldn't cruise down High St of Oakland, CA that really looks awesome.

Ever tried to go up Lombard St. in San Francisco on there?

Yes, but it's too high class there. I am a ghetto dude. :D

And I would say, just to make this post more complete:

I have traveled Singapore but I think my native country sucks man. San Diego, Portland and New Orleans are all smaller than Singapore but are more fun to navigate.

i watch 3 hour (or even longer) journeys in google earth after i set them up.

eg: i place a marker at a point like a road in melbourne, and another marker at my house in sydney, and then i click "directions from" and i choose the melbourne marker, and then i click "directions to" and i choose the marker at my house.

then it calculates the route within a second or 2 and i have the option of touring that route.
i go to the navigation page and choose my tour height to be 300 meters at an angle of 65 degrees (viewpoint) , and i choose the speed to be 1000 mph.

then i go and deselect the route display (turn off the purple trace over the roads), and i play the tour at 1000 mph.
it is mesmeric to watch for hours.

I try to find neighborhoods that are like warzones, DMZs or extreme ghetto. On the other hand, I try to find very exclusive neighborhoods like the Hamptons, Martha's Vineyard or see celebrity homes.
