Since the June 2009 I pass more than half of my day in front of the computer. Sometimes i work with bitmaps (editing their each pixel one by one), and using a small monitor with high resolution (13.3" 1280x800px).

In last couple of weeks, I feel that I can't process the visual data that I used to before. I hadn't have any problem related to my eyes before. Three years ago a doctor said, "People that have health eyes like yours are rarely seen." Now, I can see everthing well, but the image is blurry than it was before.

Next week, I will see a doctor.

May it caused by computer or or other things? (it can't be genetic)

Should I stop to use computer? (This is like cutting my legs by myself)

I found that old-style CRT monitors really hurt my eyes after a while. Flatscreens are much better. Have you tried turning the display brightness down? You can usually reduce the intensity quite a lot without the image suffering.

I can't look into a CRT monitor more than 15 minutes, so I use flat, and brightness is on the lowest level that a user can set for last 4 months.

Although, is there still any possibility for the monitor to hurt my eyes?

I'm pretty sure you can harm your eyes by trying to do any kind of fine detail work too much. :( It's good that you're going to see a doctor.

Wouldn't sitting too close to the monitor be a factor as well?
