I was out filming today with a friend who was wearing a bit of destitute apparel. A car pulled up and I was concerned that we were about to get a lecture about filming on private property.

A woman in her 40's got out and went over to my friend and told him that she had some soup on at home and that if he was hungry that he could have something to eat.

She hadn't noticed me and my camera. We explain the situation and we all had a good laugh. But it proves two things-

1) My friend looked convincing
2) That there are genuinely good people in this world

There are good people in this world. You just have to look for them. :)

I do believe there are good people out there, but they are just much harder to find than those that are not so good.

comparatively hard to find. but what few of them exist, are distributed widely. one is just as likely to find one while an inmate in prison, as out in the world.

Oh, they exist, lurking amist the jerks, but I am grateful.

One of my several cases in point from the archives:

My first day in London. I am not affluent, I am exhausted, sun near setting, no lodging with openings in sight. Calling everything on a list of hostels, scrapibg the bottom. I have run out of change for the phones in the square.

I stop a passerby, ask him to change a half crown [yes, I know, this was not last year]. He can't do it.

BUT - total stranger - he gives me one call worth. I dial, I connect, I sleep that night.

No idea who he was, but I bless him.

How do you know she didn't notice your camera? Maybe she was thinking "I sure would like to help but there are no cameras around to document my good deed". Oh, there's one. Pull the car over hunny!

Just kidding of course.
