need help figuring out a song

For the life of me I cannot figure out the original artist of this song. The only audio clip I have is some artist covering it.

Technically it's at least two different songs: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bittersweet_symphony

But it's probably Bittersweet Symphony.

I agree it sounds like two songs mixed together (or just a really bad mix), but the strings are definitely from Bittersweet Symphony, by The Verve.
