Has anyone had experience with Brink's (now Broadview) and/or ADT Home Security?
Are they reasonably priced, reliable, etc... I have Home Depot alarms all over the place in addition to "neighborhood watch program" but my co-worker lives in Southeastern Pennsylvania and wants a system with a known company. She doesn't have a neighborhood watch because her neighbors are the ones who are trying to get in :x ! !!

Best advice for your friend... get a large dog and a shotgun.

As far as alarm systems go, I've never used Brinks or ADT, but they seem like reputable companies. Of course, there's always the possibility for poor service, but having an alarm company is always a boost even if the company isn't the best.

When not at home, a dog that barks

When at home, a shotgun* (even a lowly powered .410 bore with buckshot in a double barrel will suffice)

*Even in countries/states that don't like firearms, shotguns can be found legally and easily
