Oh how I enjoy living in a world in which parody news tends to be the most accurate news of all. I found that very entertaining.

Hahaha this is not funny. Seriously dude, this is a touchy subject. You deserved to be smacked on the head for joking about a serious matter. I am going to kill this topic officially.

That was very amusing.

For people who don't find it funny, perhaps you are missing the point? It is not to say autistic children ruin their parents lives or autistic children are terrible. It is making fun of how people decide having a baby (or getting a pet for that matter) will solve their marital problems.

If this was completely understood and it was not taken as amusing for some other reason, I apologize. :P

In my life my father hit the bottle as I was going through adolescence. He was very stressed about how I did in an school and socially. Alcoholism eventually took his life and I do occasionally feel guilty about it.
Of course, I don't always find the Onion humorous whether it involves the autism spectrum or not.

Is this a joke site?

Personally I think having a baby only makes relationship problems more visible and is damaging for the child and it's development.

It was a nice read.
The womanhood one was great, too.

Bahaha! Gotta love The Onion.

This misdiagnosis caused me significant stress, which lessened upon finding out the truth about myself from my current and past long-term therapists - that I am an anxious and highly sensitive person but do not have an autism spectrum disorder.

My diagnoses - social anxiety disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

I’m no longer involved with the ASD world.

"Evan has reportedly done almost nothing to curb Mark's controlling nature or Sharon's cruel emotional abuse."

Brilliant, thanks for sharing the humour.

Yes.

Yes. There's a brief, peaceful "honeymoon effect" when the baby is first born, and then the challenge really begins. I speak from personal experience. When it happened to me, I expected it on an intellectual level but emotionally it still bowled me over. On the other hand, I've heard that child-free couples can run into equally bad problems because they have nothing to focus on - plus one partner often rather wants kids and the other won't comply, which can lead to an amazing amount of resentment.

I found it funny.

The point is that the parents placed such high expectations on the child for ridiculous reasons. The joke is that the kid may not even be "autistic", but the parents are just blaming autism for their kid not being perfect and solving all of their problems instantly.

I also liked "Disabled athlete wants opponents to go easy on him".

I didn't like it. It seems too much like Autism Speaks to me. That's just my opinion, and you're entitled to your opinions, as well. If we were all the same, WP would be a boring place to hang out. 8)
