I really, really dislike Facebook. I made one when I was 17 and didn't know any better, and deleted my account shortly after. Recently my mom and my sisters have been trying to get me to create a Facebook, but I've remained strong about the matter. "I don't want a Facebook", I say.

And today when I'm checking my email messages I have ten million and one emails from....Facebook about my account! Ah! I'm thinking that one of my sisters created an account for me and used my email address to do so. I'm just really pissed off that they were able to actually create an account under my name without Facebook having to authorize my consent through my email address. So random people can just make a Facebook account for you now just by knowing your email?! Grrr!

Nobody else can create an account for you using your email address (unless they have your email password, I suppose, in which case you have bigger problems.) She probably entered your address when FB prompted her to "look for her friends", and now FB is emailing you via that address.

If the address was the same email associated with your old, deactivated FB account, then you can log into that old account (it will briefly reactivate you) and deactivate it again, only this time choose the option to NOT have FB email you about your account (which it does by default otherwise, whenever people are looking for you or tagging you in photos, etc.)

They require an email verification in order to activate the account, so unless they have your pw to your email, it's either spam, a virus, or some other crap.

I have facebook. I don't use it that much. I have it to keep in contact with my old school mates and for my online friends. One of my old aspies friends pushed me to have it and I finally gave in.

They don't have my email password, and it wasn't the same email I used with my old account.

I got a bunch of notifications saying that so-and-so confirmed my friend request, and that so-and-so wrote on my wall. I haven't activated the account but did get an email saying that I should, but if it was a mistake and i didn't want an account then I should follow a link they gave me. When I tried clicking on it it said there was an error. I'm confused. :?

I hate facebook, for some reason, some of the people on my list seems to have problems with me and they for some reason don't answer or just delete me for NO reason at all.... I got into a couple of arguments and 2 severe ones that it got too much for me.

Everytime I would go on facebook I would be feeling very depressed because of the socializing on there.

Since then i've stopped going on facebook, but I would just go on it like once and a while.

I've started a Facebook, back in the late summer. I don't know why I've started it. I guess that I thought it would be fun to be on it.

I love Facebook! It's a great way for me to keep in contact with friends, especially those whom I haven't seen in a while.

It's a lot better than Myspace, in my opinion.

I concur. Though I initially signed up for it to see if the girls I was friends with were in relationships.

Yeah that's pretty much why I stopped too. Actually I spent way too much time on it when I had an account. I lurked too much on people's profiles and became way too interested in people's lives. Plus I think it's stupid how you have to be friends with everyone you know even though you're not on friendly terms with them. That really confused me when I had the account in high school because people who didn't really like me and who I didn't converse with in real life were suddenly my "friends" on Facebook. It made me upset when I would take the time to comment on someone's picture or write on their wall and then get no reply.

leschevalsroses: Me too. But I recently did some "cleaning" on my account and removed Facebook friendships from people I don't know anymore or were never friends with in real life. I now reject people whom I never considered myself friends with in the first place. The requests are ridiculous. Many people use Facebook on their phones and I'm almost convinced some people live on Facebook.

I'm determined to say that your e-mails are from the account you created, or that, as 886 suggested, it's all spam. Be sure to follow arielhawksquill's advice (in case it is from your old account) and opt out of the e-mail notifications, under your account preferences.
