"i'd rather have a bottle in front of me,
than have to have a frontal lobotomy."

"beans, beans, i love my beans,
better than chicken or collard greens"

"my wife left home with a banana,
and i'm a jealous man."

"well, it's forty below and i don't give a f+ck
got a heater in my truck and i'm off to the rodeo"

"springtime for hitler and germany,
winter for poland and france."

My dad use to listen to Dr Demento all the time, he loved the Shaving Cream song

I have a sad story to tell you
It may hurt your feelings a bit
Last night when I walked into my bathroom
I stepped in a big pile of ...shhhhh . . . aving cream,
be nice and clean. . . .
Shave ev'ry day and you'll always look keen.

Demento is my role model in my own little public access radio show of

"crazy comedy on records mixed with both normal and mutated music".

for about a decade, in western washington there was an edmonds washington schoolteacher by the name of robert boren, who hosted on various local stations a program called "music with moscowitz" which was similar in tone to the dr. d. program. his own collection was in the 10s of thousands, about 1/100th of what dr. d. has in his basketball court-sized warehouse.

Yes, though I haven't listened to his show in several years. I have 2 or 3 of his CDs.

the last broadcast i heard of his program was a bootleg on a local puget sound college radio station in the early 90s. since washington state stopped carrying westwood one radio network back in '84 [his network], there have been no regular broadcasts of dr. d. here on fm radio since then. he is mostly a web presense now, and that's when i pulled the plug on my interest in him, his business ethics are quite mercenary and they stink - he double-charges web-listeners for content. first they must pay to access the webcasts, then if they want to listen to them in something better than AM-radio sound quality, they must pay another $15 a month for the privilege. no thanks. i don't take kindly to being gyp'ed. i miss it, though. i have all his CDs, several broadcast dubs and lots of other "flat friends" i have collected since the early 70s. several thousand individual demented ditties, approximately. mostly i listened to "music with moscowitz" though [local demented radio program].
