Led Zeppelin is one of the many things that made the 60s so great. 8)

Just for the record (vinyl of course) most of Led Zeppelin's albums were released in the 70's. They were formed in the (late) 60's, though. Just thought I would put in a good word for an overlooked decade. :)

I'd like to make a contribution to the music.

Santana (the band) formed in the late 60's. First album just under the wire. Most of the albums were 70's. Played at Woodstock. One of my favorites! Saw Calos (solo) twice.

The favorite one I heard on that playlist is "Look into the Sun." JTull isn't always successful, but they attempt something worthy of careful listening. I like the eclectic mixture of rock, folk, jazz, and renaissance music.

Frank Zappa and Captain Beefheart both produced their first albums during the 60's. Innovative, ambitious music worth seeking out. Both mixed rock, other genres of music and and artist's sensibility. Did not allow commercialism to limit their creativity.

Indeed, sometimes lyrics can be enjoyed even (or even more) without the music, sometimes the other way around. However I especially love when they played with folk, Celtic and classical themes and instruments, such as this one when they used oboe instead of flute - from the 1986 UK 2-track 7" vinyl single:
