Does anyone have stories to share where some machine or something had an odd glitch?
Back in the fall term of 2009, there is this desk light in my dorm where you pull a string to turn on and off. Somehow, I couldn't get the light to turn off and had to unplug the thing from the socket (so I could sleep at night. It takes a while for maintenance to come and fix the problem).

There is an odd glitch here where I get banned from here every month. It's happened last month and this month. It's happened to my friend superboyian too.

I remember being 14 and 15 and in my room when I turn off my bathroom light, the fan turn off. I would have to turn it back on. I think it was something in the wiring.

One time, back in 2007, I was comparing myself to Sid from Flushed Away, in the middle of the night. That was back, when I was a punk. My floor lamp turned itself on. :O)

I thought of another one, the seatbelt light in my old family car (which my parents traded in over a week ago) was "backwards" sometimes. When the seatbelt is unbuckled, no light. When it is buckled, the lights come on.

My previous car, an Alfa Romeo 146, had some odd glitches.

- Every 3.5 month my fuel-injection problem indicator light blinked twice. There was no problem with fuel-injection.
- My handbrake indicator light went on-and-off continuously. There was no problem with the handbrake, or brake fluid.
- The right flasher only worked when it would feel like working, the left flasher had no problem.

Now I have a Volkswagen Golf MK3 Variant with less electronics, it just works.

I had a Rover 820SI once and the computer controlling the windscreen wipers lost the plot - sometimes it would hurl the wipers right beyond the windscreen without stopping - attacking any cyclists I happened to be overtaking at the time

It would be fun if you had control over it, you can have a lot of fun with your wipers

The light over the sink in my dorm at Tech was pretty screwy, sometimes when I flipped the switch there would only be a faint red glow at one end, and I would have to turn in on and off and on until it lit all the way.

For a few weeks this semester before I got my laptop's motherboard replaced, the display would randomly get really fuzzy, and sometimes it would reboot (blue screen of death, but it wouldn't display properly). If I tried to view full-screen video, or run Windows Media Player, it would crash the display. Normally I could shut the computer down and turn it back on, and it would work fine, but when that didn't work I would let it sit, then close it, let it sit some more, open it again, and then turn it off and back on. That always worked, until the week I finally had to replace it.

The SVGA output of my last graphics-card (Geforce 8800 GTX), only displayed black-and-white every once in a while, while the DVI-output was in colour. After a reboot it was in colour again.

Wow. That's ironic.

I had a light switch like that once, but it didn't do anything. Every time I'd walk by it, I'd give it a flick, but nothing ever happened. After a few years, my phone rang. It was some guy from Germany yelling, "Knock it off!"

my car tells me my depollution system is faulty then corrects itself all the time

my rear windscreen (windshield?) wipe has a mind of its own and comes on by itself sometimes when I open the boot (trunk?) of the car

I was walking by the car once when it was parked outside my house and for no reason at all the wiper went

nobody was near or in the car

weird :-)

I used to drive Taxis years ago (before a lot of the companies started using cell phones). Somehow, we discovered our radio transmitters could be used to open remotely controlled garage doors. We used to drive up and down streets with the mic keyed to see how many would open. A surprising number of them would! We would go back through and key the mic again, and they would all close. Sometimes we'd see home owners standing outside on the second pass, with bewildered looks on their faces. 8O
