I had no idea the sun was that big. I always pictured it being the same size as the Earth.

...Don't look at me that way! What else do you expect from a natural blonde?

it's a big universe out there, and our universe big as it is, is just one of an infinite number of other universes under a grand metaverse or "great mother of all universes."

Just thinking about it gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling.

But most of the galaxies you can see from that distance will be dead by now, due to the fact the "new" light wouldn't have reached us yet so it still looks living from the Hubble Telescope.

Still, that really does put things into perspective.

On a universal scale, we're something over medium sized.

that is such a mindblowing point. our universe is so immense that just about everything we see outside of our own galactic group is dying or dead and gone already, and we are just seeing their legacy lightbeams. it is all a grand illusion. we are so far apart from anybody else out there, other civilizations might as well be in totally different universes altogether. sigh.
but stephen hawking says we should be thankful that the others are indeed so far away because we are less likely then, to be taken advantage-of by them mean ol' ETs. myself, i prefer this more optimistic cosmic vision-
