I don't like talking face to face over the computer. It still doesn't feel right. At least on a message board I can think of what I want to say, and work on it.

I agree. I never use a camera or a microphone with strangers. And people continue to be strangers until at least a couple of meet ups. Though I don't do them either, unless it's extremely uncomplicated.

I only use skype if I only know the person but I'm more better with voice than I do with video. :D

I'd rather be here, on WrongPlanet.

I rarely use the call components. You can chat with text through Skype as well, and that is what I do most of the time. To me it's mostly like YIM or AIM or any other IM service, but with abnormally good audio/video chatting functions. xP

I only call people I know usually, and usually only out of necessity, like so my cousin can show me a picture to help him explain something, or so that my friend Jeff and I can keep our hands free to kill monsters in whatever game we're playing online and still communicate with each other, and so on.....

I used to go into chat rooms regularly. I always avoided the voice chat function though. With typing text I could often convince people I was actually normal! Using voice chat, I don't think I ever could.
I've never used Skype either.

I rarely used skype to talk to people in the past but since september i've been a dj on an internet radio station which has really given me confidence when it comes to speaking to strangers.

Im glad Im not the only one. We are setting up a Skype account but its mainly because we are moving to France and I want to see my daughters and talk to them. Still it scares me for some reason....like Im scared someone is going to hack into it or something. Also I could NEVER skype with someone I didnt know...even some people that I knew in school, that would be really uncomfortable. Its like letting someone in your house or something.

J get nervous when i log into Skype, but once the conversation has started I'm fine. However, I never use Skype to talk to strangers.

I find the one thing that still makes me nervous before i go on the radio or skype is that i dont like the sound of my own voice, do any of you find that?

I get nervous around scythes, too. They remind me of death.

Yeah, me too. It sounds weird and whiny I think, but recently I got a really strong and surprising complement. I was told by a random girl on the phone (Her friend made me answer the phone for him because he was driving.) that I had a cute voice, and could be a sex phone operator! 8O

Thanks, but I doubt it. xD It'd take a lot of work to knock out the kinks- err, that's the wrong word. Kinks might be a good thing, lol. No though, I tend to pause awkwardly and stuff when I speak.... Although, with practice, I might really like to be a voice actor. ^_^ It'd be soo fun!
