I know this was a while ago. Anyway slightly over 2 years ago when I was 18 (my younger brother was 15 going on 16 at the time). Me and my mates took my younger brother to this pub on the outskirts of our local town (belive me the pub we travelled too will serve a 10 year old child beer).

While we were in the pub my younger brother kindly brought one of my friends a pint of beer. Towards the end of the evening me and my friends walked outside to have a chat in the pub parking lot. The guy that my brother brought beer for was smoking a cigarette and he also had a pack of cigarettes with him as well. My brother then asked my friend "Can I have a cigarette" my friend then said to my brother "**** off".

My younger bro confided in me a few days later that he felt like punching my friend when he refused him a cigerrate becaue he brought my friend a beer.

Do you think my brother is right to feel this way over what happened?

It was for his own good.

He had the right to express his feelings.

I think the problem here is the way that friend reacted. I don't know what was his intent, if, for exemple, it was simply "his way" to refuse something to a friend, but it sure angered your brother.

But I don't think bringing a beer to your friend oblige him to accept to give a cigarette later. A favor can bring another but it doesn't have to. At least that's my opinion.

In that case your brother's reaction become a little bit more understandable, but still...
Did that friend promessed that'd be rewarded with a cigarette?

Sounds exactly like something my own 16 year old brother would have said in that situation.

But seriously, I think his feelings were justified.

Well, telling someone to, "**** off," is just plain rude.

But it's been two years. I am sure this affair is best consigned to the dustbin of memory.

My friend who sweared at my bro has got a reputation for only caring about himself. When I first met my friend in 2001 when we started school we were only 11-12 year olds at the time. Back then my friend was really nice guy. It was when he hit 15 that he really started to become a jerk. He has started to behave more friendlier though in the last year or so. Almost 3 years ago he actually angered me by questioning my sexuality which caused me to almost threaten him because he just would not shut up about it.

To be honest as well my friend sits around his house a lot smoking dope and is stuck in a dead end job although he claims 'buissness is booming' it clearly is not. What is even more funny is that in school he failed his exams so he had to do them again in collge. When he did pass his exams in college he dropped out and just lazed around his house for months withouth bothering to get a job which infuriated my friends because they all had to work. To say the least he is a waste of space :D
