The 80's will always be the best past decade, but the 90's need to be appreciated too.

For best technological innovation of the decade, I nominate the Palm Pilot. It was primitive by today's standards, but a breakthrough at the time in terms of usability and usefulness. It slowly evolved to today's smartphones and mp3/mutimedia players.

Finally! I've been waiting for someone to make a '90s appreciation thread. The 1990s was an awesome decade because:

1. It introduced the mainstreaming of my favorite technological innovation of all time, the Internet.
2. We had an awesome economy.
3. It was the 2nd Golden Age of Disney.
4. Kids' programming was at its height during this decade.
5. I was born in this decade! :)

The two biggest reasons I love the 90's:

Somebody already beat me to Pokemon, so I'll post my 2nd favorite childhood obsession that came from the 90s:

i liked clinton. :D he was a rogue but he was AMERICA's rogue! 8) hillary was young and pretty. i liked the vibe, it was like the 70s on steroids. it was like freedom and fresh air after the quasi-50s straightjacket of the 80s. microsoft stock was still a ride up the wealth escalator. AOL also was waiting for riders seeking double-digit returns on their principal. i was younger and fitter, still young enough to have a little fun, even if such opportunities were rare. fewer aches and pains on my account. Digital Signal Processing was in its youth, and not so many folk were blasé about it then like they are now. you could still buy a plymouth and a pontiac. michael jackson was still young and vital. bill gates was still a venal captain of the universe. ross perot was flapping his graphs and charts. "barbie girl" was playing on the box. "ghost" and "titanic" upon the marquees punctuated this decade of "new age" being the rage. i miss :( the 90s SOOOOOOOOOO MUCH!

And some of the best video games are from the 90's.

For me the 90z was the decade that was on steroids.

The 'Dow' and the 'Naz' both hit all time highs that may remain for another decade (or not).

NTz en masse, used their homes as ATM machines, unable to see their own 'big-picture'

I don't remember much about the music of that decade, as I was by then too old/out of touch to be interested in current music trends and too young to start really looking back at older music.

I do remember enjoying the movies of the 90z but can't remember many of them right now (for the same reasons as given above!)

Yeh.........strange decade for me

I am like you about music of that decade, but I am old enough to look back at older music. I agree with the post that said the best thing about the 90's was the internet.

1990 wasn't just the year I was born - It was also the year my favorite movie of all time came out, and marked the first time Tim Burton and Johnny Depp ever collaborated:

I remember Donovan Bailey winning the gold medal fro Canada in the 100 Metre Sprint, during the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia. I'll never forget that moment. :D

The 90s were a pretty cool decade. The early years belonged to my sister with New Kids on The Block, and the closing years belonged to me, with Austin Powers. 8)
