Ewwww......it totally doesn't work......my puppy just smells even worse
imagine: puppy smell + some flora perfume...

I do have dog deordourant at home, but I hate the smell of it...

I use coconut shampoo for my dog when he bathes. It smells absolutely lovely.

I don't think their hair is the same as ours though.

I have read that dogs smell the way they do because they are pack hunters. Some dogs will be in one place, where the wind is taking their scent to their prey, and they know there are dogs there, and head the other way, where there are MORE dogs waiting for them.

Also the reason why cats don't smell, as they are solitary predators. But then again, cats probably do smell, but being a human and having very weak senses as do humans in general, I can't smell it. Just their urine, especially if they're intact toms.

I think it is just best to get used to the puppy smell.lolAt least I would prefer it to anything chemically.

I love the way most dogs smell :) I'll sit around with a dog by my face just smelling them sometimes.

But, they do make doggie perfume.. It usually smells pretty good to me. I got some once called "Arfmani"... LOL.. They also make some called "White Dalmatians" and "CK9"

What actually makes them smell that way?

Secretions from their apocrine glands. So other dogs can recognize them. Something like that.

lolOnce my cat got perfume on her, she was watching my mother get ready for work(she loves to observe people  and birds and lizards and bugs), and as she always wears perfume, I guess while she was spraying it on herself, some got on her. She goes looking for me, walks into my room, and I'm like 'Sissy, you STINK!'. I had to give her a bath to get the perfume scent off her.

Just be cautious if you do. Some perfumes can be toxic and cause rashes on dogs and cats.

Baby wipes are great for cleaning up pets when you can't give them a bath--unscented is best.
