As far as I remember, I haven't outright lied. However, I may have twisted some truths in my previous posts to fit what I wanted to post and there have been times when I'm not sure about something but I really wanted to post so badly that I do my best to post what I THINK is the truth.

I made this thread because I noticed a member who had inconsistencies in his/her post. obviously, I'm not gonna say the member's name or say the details about his/her posts. but its just interesting to see the contradictions.

EDIT: Why is this in parent's discussion? Can a mod please move this to random discussion? thanks.

hm... probably left some stuff out when I retold stories. I may have exaggerated some stuff to be funny. But WP is my place to confide my concerns regarding my difficulties in life, so I'm pretty honest.

Why does it concern you if somebody here is inconsistent?

Depends on the definition of lying...
My feelings and doubts are real. My living circumstances are real. Only some specifics I leave out. Like the place where I live, my exact type of job(s) and some small details. These things I leave out because I do want a certain degree of privacy and anonymity. That way I feel comfortable to ask difficult questions and express my real feelings here.

By omission, yes. There are some things I don't particularly want to air in public, generally things which make me annoyed at myself.

By inaccuracy, yes. If I try to detail the same thing twice I can't guarantee to remember it in quite the same way each time - but the same goes for everyone, unless they've got a super-perfect memory, which I suppose is slightly more likely here than elsewhere.

By simple mistake, yes. I'm not above putting two and two together and getting five, then loudly announcing that five is the answer.

Deliberately, with intent to mislead (beyond just the omission above), no.

I'm certainly finding out new things about myself as time goes by - I'm still trying to determine the limits of my ability to visualise things and my ability to recognise faces - the first I've revised a little up, the second I've revised a little down. I would imagine that many people here, myself included, are unable to properly evaluate the level of many of our interpersonal skills - it's kind of a given!

No, I never lie here. I can be open about anything I want to share because no one here knows me in real life.

No, I don't think so. If I have it wasn't intentional. I am quite proud of my honesty.

Thank you, jc6chan, for giving me the opportunity to say that I don't lie on Wrong Planet.

Though, as Ambivalence very well said, by omission, yes if you can call that lying. That's when there are things I'd rather not say.

By inaccuracy & mistake, unintentional, and I appreciate being corrected.

I'm 20 times as honest here, as I am, in real life, and I'm a pretty honest person.

This is the only place where I can be 100% honest and be me, warts and all. I would never lie here.

I don't think I lied about anything, but I have actually seen a couple of members lying but I can't mention his/her name?
I wonder if me and jc6chan are thinking the same person?

No. I dont see the point of being on WP unless you're totally open and honest. omitting information is fine provided it does not lead to misleading people. We as anonymous as we wish her so why lie?

No, of course not, why would I do that?

Well, in all seriousness I don't really lie about myself at all. At least as far as big details are concerned. I may make little white lies from time to time though. But more often than not, if I don't want people to know something, I usually don't say anything.
