Yes, haven been cheated on at 11 months and knowing that 50% of all marriages end in divorce why bother rushing marriage?

Yeah, I'd say so. Especially if you haven't been through the hoops before (If you're young/relatively inexperienced at long term relationships).

Considering you've not met your girlfriend IRL yet, yes.

But people who wait ages to get married still end up getting cheated on and everything else.

My advice is do what you think is right for your relationship and emotions.

oh, not rushing exactly.
when i said decide to get married, i just meant as an eventuality.

ideally we'd be getting married in a few years or so. She's thinking 2014

Yeah 2014 sounds fine, you'll almost certainly break up by that time and if you don't it has a pretty good chance of working out.

:lol: What can I say optimism is illogical. You can tell someone they aren't going to die from cancer but you can't tell them they aren't going to have a heart attack the next day.

Good parents. Mine got married after 3 months of dating (can you believe they were still on the market at 30 with that kind of enthusiasm?) Needless to say my mom told me that the day they got married was the day he started to seem ungrateful and lazy and what-not and she spent 16 years with him not because she wanted to but because it was easier on the family and she only divorced him cause he was being a little abusive with me.

Oddly enough now I get along better with my dad. I figure it's because my mom thinks everyone is lazy, including me.

I married my wife one month after I met her.

We have been married for 38 years. It hasn't been easy but we have done it.

It was "love at first site" and I can say that I love her as much today as I did when I first saw her.

My parents married after 8 or so years I believe. They met in highschool and dated from then through college. Finally Mom told him "Alright, I think it's been long enough. You either know me well enough by now or you don't." They've been married 25 years this past September :D

7 months seems a bit short, but I don't think there can be a list of rules like that, that can be applied to all relationships. Whatever seems right, after a lot of serious thought, will probably be the right thing. Besides, I think you should know a person for at least a year before you decide to date them.

well...speaking as somebody whose cat knows more about the subject than i do, i'd have to say that when the time is right, you will know. the harder part is getting your partner-to-be to agree.
