I would like to point out that a geographical region cannot be intelligent or unintelligent because it is inanimate.

I think that every country in this world, has both a brilliant side, and a stupid side.

It's an acceptable phrase if it accepted it's a form metonymy.

Anyway, similar stories to what we're discussing here are not uniquely American, so while American has particular problems and ways of dealing with the security of the State, I can see clear parallels to what I've experienced in England.

The sad thing is that I'd so much like to travel to the USA, but feel unable because some official or other might acted stupidly.

Anyway we can agree that homeland security is stupid - but that's not uniquely American! And I can't help but feel its all there to stop me visiting.

I'll get there for sure one day. And my girlfriend even has family in sunny New Jersey - that great holiday destination (or not) .

We're all stupid in one way or another. The running of the bulls in Paloma is pretty stupid IMO.

We really need to get rid of the no fly list (in it's current form) and the patriot act. The no fly list should be limited to people on trial for or convicted of terrorist related activity as well as people who cause problems on planes, but make sure they aren't banning everybody with common names like they do now. My dad knows a guy named Richard Reed (like the shoe bomber) who got taken off a flight and grilled by airport security. The thing is, this Richard Reed my dad knows is a pasty white readhead, still wears his dog tags from his time in the navy, and most telling of all that he's not the same guy as the terrorist, he's not in jail.

I don't know, I never fly the plane mainly because of the price and the crap I'd have to go through to get by security untracked.

But yeah I guess most of us our pretty stupid. Maybe if I lived in another country I wouldn't risk facing this mentality as badly. I sure hate our government, that's for sure.
