I went to the dentist yesterday. I have 8 cavities and I need two root canals plus my wisdom teeth pulled. However, I'm actually not scared of going to the dentist. In fact, I left the office in a better mood than I went in. This is because:

1. My dentist and his assistant are really, really nice
2. The dentist chair doubles as a massage chair. Seriously.
3. There is a TV on the ceiling - I can bring my own DVDs to watch while they work on my teeth.
4. Two words: nitrous oxide.

I went Monday morning for a check-up & x-rays. It wasn't as bad as it usually is but I started brushing my teeth 3x a day a week before so they didn't have much scraping to do. My mouth was still a bit sore after thou. I find it helps me a bit to drink some caffeine latter & skip brushing my teeth that nite. I ate some corn on the cob that day for lunch & my mouth felt better after. I think it helps cuz my mouth is not used to having that clean feeling; do not say anything about it to a dentist thou  You should always keep your eyes closed when that light is on. I had braces when I was younger & that was horrible. I've been extremely lucky thou cuz I've only had one cavity so for & I'm 27. My wisdom-teeth never came in either.

Brush and floss, brush and floss, brush and floss....

I've always had trouble forming routines, so I neglected proper oral care for a couple of years, and I'm currently in the process of having TEN cavities filled on top of my existing mouthful of silver. My dentist is great and makes quick work of them (even threw in a freebie yesterday!) but still, it sucks and it's expensive without insurance.

I told the assistant that when I'm done, I'll basically have a retirement investment of silver in my mouth. Should be good for a few bucks!

This was a big wake-up call, and incentive enough to stay on top of it. Let me tell you, just a cleaning is quite painful when your gums aren't healthy. Take care of yourself and your dates with the dentist will be less frequent, save for the recommended cleaning now and then :)

I should make an appointment, to see my own dentist. It's been a couple of years. It's time for a good cleaning.

I go to the dentist twice a year. The only thing I don't like about going is the sound when the hygienist cleans my teeth. The taste isn't all that great, but I manage ok. The dentist uses this tool mixed with baking soda to clean in between the gums, and sometimes it gets sensitive. But I don't mind going to dentists. It isn't bad for me at all.

Oh yes, I sure hate going to the dentist, last time I went there, I had to get a x-ray of my teeth and get fillings and everything, it wasn't scary but it was pretty much worth it I would of thought.

Even got my teeth polished more than it did. :D

I fainted last time I went to the dentist. She was bashing my teeth and yanking on them and OMG! 8O I fainted right then and there and almost puked on her.

She told me that I have to be put under and must go to an oral surgeon because of it. Great. I don't have insurance. D'oh!

On a good note, I got many, many delicious Percocet because of it. 8D Totally worth it! Mmm...

I have to go to one again because I notice my gum above my wisdom tooth is all swollen. Today it was big and I pressed on it and bunch of puss came out and blood. That told me I better go see the dentist but I am also scared too because I don't know if it's going to be painful. Like do they need to tear away the gum or pull my tooth out.

The gum had been hurting for a few days now and I figured it was just the tooth trying to poke through the gum because it's coming through. But I see it's maybe hurting because it's infected. It only hurts when I brush that area or press on it.

i've got the double wammy.

i have braces so i get to see the dentist and an orthodontist through out the year.
my teeth aren't crooked but my canine teeth were impacted so i had to have them removed. they then attached a chain to the impacted teeth/the roof of my mouth and slowly pulled them down. the braces were to create a space for my new teeth. oh and this all happened two weeks after i had four wisdom teeth removed.

loads of fun.Image

I have braces to :/ the orthodontist is not as bad as the dentist in my opinion.

Your lucky. My orthodontist was horrible. He kept complaining about how I was not brushing my teeth correctly & he insisted on showing me how to brush every time by making me look in a mirror while the light was in my face. I was crying in my sleep when I wore the head-gear. He only saw kids & he refused to let the parents watch while he worked with em. He kept talking about how my teeth wer not rite & but as soon as the insurance was ready to run out; he took em off despite that he had said my teeth still wer not rite. The dentist was a lot nicer & didn't have half the complaints about me not brushing rite. I was lucky when I went Monday because it only cost me $172 for the cleaning & x-rays & I don't have insurance. It cost me over $100 six months ago when I went just for the cleaning/check-up so I was expecting it to be over $200 with the x-rays.

My mom has a lot of fillings, caps & crowns on her teeth & a filling came out last week that was put in three months ago. She saw the dentist when I did & he said her tooth was cracked but he put the filling back in for free & said he'll cap/crown it(I forget witch one) next time there's a problem. She never had braces or had her Wisdom teeth come in.
My dad never had braces but he had to get his wisdom teeth removed when he was an older teenager & they broke apart when the dentist was trying to remove em & every now & then pieces still comes out :o

I had a similar experience with the orthodontist.
